The P38 is based on its predecessor's long wheel base chassis and built from 1994 until 2002. It's the last Range Rover equipped with the Buick-derived, all-aluminum Rover V8 engine, and the last Range Rover equipped with genuine Connolly hides. As such, it is already cherished by many enthusiasts as the last Range Rover that provides a proper British luxury ambiente.

This 2000 model Range Rover 4.0 SE was manufactured in September of 1999 in Her Majesty's Kingdom. Stateside, it sold for $59,000 new, fully loaded, except for the optional navigation system.

Being a California vehicle from new, this Range Rover is 100% rust and accident free, and as original as they come.

Registration is current and it just passed the California smog inspection with ease. All factory books and manuals in the original leather pouch are present.

Power comes from Rover's Buick-derived 4.0-liter all aluminum V8, tuned for low-rpm torque and delivering a mellow 188 horses. It is coupled to an equally bullet-proof 4-speed automatic transmission.

The engine runs superbly with no issues to report, other than a small oil leak from the right valve cover gasket.

Shifting is smooth and the 4-wheel-drive works great as well.

The P38 has a sophisticated hydraulic system that allows the body to be set in 4 different ride heights. High for servicing and extreme clearance, Normal for regular driving, Highway for higher speed driving, and Low primarily for transport.
The Achilles heel of this system is the master pump, which eventually starts leaking. On this Range Rover, it has just been replaced to the tune of $1,800 (core included as well), so the system works flawlessly!

Also new are all 4 255/65R16 All Terrain tires, with less than 2,000 miles on them.

Wearing all of its factory original paint, the finish has held up very well, with barely any signs of use.
Note, left front blinker glass is damaged; you can get a replacement for as little as $20 used on eBay.

Captain's bridge is a thing of beauty. Dash is 100% crack free.

All gauges work; there are no warning lights or error codes.

 image

All in all the leather is in great condition, with just some wear on the driver's seat.

 image

Rear seating area is flawless.

All of the lights work as well.

Spacious cargo area is flawless. Spare is located in a separate compartment below the trunk floor.

 image

This P38 starts, runs, and drives very well, and even the auto ride-height (cars lowers itself after a few miles on the freeway), works as it should.

 image

Steering is tight, brakes work without fault.

 image

Mechanically, there's one light wheel bearing noise developing, but nothing to lose sleep over.

Priced at only $4,900, this Range Rover provides an amazing bang for the buck.
