It's a well known fact that new automobiles depreciate tremendously during their first years on the road. Race cars are even worse: they cost a fortune to build and can depreciate at an alarming rate.

Plus, a newly-built race car will always require extra time and money to work out all the new-car bugs before being competitive. Smart buyers know all this. Hence, they love to purchase big-dollar race cars--slightly used but fully sorted--at a fraction of their original cost.
Right on!

The 1988 Corvette C4 presented here, VIN *1G1YY2183J5112140*, is a true road race monster. It was professionally built from the ground up in 2003/'04 for over $50,000.00 by Blaine Fabrication in Sunnyvale, California. The original owner, Dr. Evan Ginsberg (name published with permission), a well-known and highly respected NASA director, insisted on using only the best components money could buy.

Corvette comes with a clear California Certificate of Title (opening the door for some interesting possibilities), as well as SCCA and NASA log books. It was a hot contender in the Viper-Corvette Challenge. The car is turn key ready for SCCA's ITE/SPO or NASA's SU classes and very competitive in either, with podium finishes to prove it.
It also could easily be a viable Salt Flats or Dry Lakes B/Modified Sports Land Speed Record contender (incredibly, the Bonneville B/Blown Fuel Modified Sports class record is still open!), serve as a blisteringly fast but reliable 180mph+ track car, or participate in sanctioned high-speed events, like the Silverstate Classic.
Yee-Haw!
To get a first-hand impression of the wild animal we're dealing with here, we took this 'Vette to a recent NASA race weekend at Buttonwillow Raceway Park (BuRP). Unexpected heavy rain--and the car running on slicks--prevented us from going all out; still, the car left no doubt about its tremendous potential and excellent handling.

Formally a "tub" car, a state-of-the-art 12-point DOM cage worthy of a top-of-the-line GT-1 car, featuring tubing of 1.75" diameter with gussets everywhere, was tied into the chassis' main structure. The cage features NASCAR-style door bars, a dash bar, crossed backstays, passenger X-bar with extra reinforcement, and custom jacking points. Jigs and welds are so nice, just looking at them will give you goose bumps!
